Sana’a – SABA:

Member of the Supreme Political Council, Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Bin Habtoor, paid a visit today to the Information Technology Center at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to review its operations and its pivotal role in supporting the educational process across all academic levels.

Accompanied by Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Hassan Al-Saadi and Deputy Minister Dr. Hatem Al-Du’ais, Dr. Bin Habtoor listened to a briefing by the center’s director, Dr. Fouad Abdulrazaq, who explained the center’s services and the digital systems it utilizes.

Dr. Abdulrazaq outlined the center’s progress in modernizing and developing systems for automation and data exchange—most notably the Unified Electronic Admission Portal for universities, community colleges, and Yemeni institutes, as well as the “SAR” student record system and the graduate studies coordination portal.

He also highlighted the significance of having a unified digital database of graduates from Yemeni universities and the role of the new postgraduate admissions portal in standardizing all academic procedures from application to thesis supervision and defense.

Dr. Bin Habtoor praised the comprehensive presentation and acknowledged the center’s role in managing academic data even for institutions in occupied provinces, especially Aden University. He described the center as one of the most critical technical bodies in the country, holding essential educational and academic records.

He emphasized that the Ministry, now responsible for basic, secondary, vocational, and higher education, must shoulder its growing institutional responsibilities. He backed the idea of a unified educational authority, referencing global models where education is managed under one ministry for greater effectiveness and cohesion.

Bin Habtoor stressed the importance of maintaining the unity of universities, considering them cultural and social melting pots for all Yemenis and the backbone of national progress. “No society can achieve development without education, and universities are its fortress,” he said.

He reassured stakeholders that the IT center’s systems are designed to serve educational institutions and praised the Ministry’s leadership and the center’s staff for their modernization efforts. He reiterated the need for ongoing development, support, and preservation of the center’s technical and human capabilities.

Minister Al-Saadi affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to expanding the center’s activities to keep pace with global changes and to include all educational sectors. He commended the center’s staff for their achievements despite limited resources and challenging conditions.

Deputy Minister Al-Du’ais described the center as a digital gateway for students—from university admission to graduation and postgrad enrollment—equipped with the necessary infrastructure and capabilities to manage and oversee the Ministry’s digital transformation.

At the meeting, attended by Undersecretary Ibrahim Sharaf, the center’s advisor Ahmed Al-Ahsab, and other officials, the IT team presented a list of systems developed and implemented to support students and universities.

The visit concluded with the center’s director presenting commemorative photos to Dr. Bin Habtoor and Minister Al-Saadi in recognition of their support and participation in the center’s activities.
