Handala Ship departs Italy today to end Israeli siege on Gaza
[13/ July/2025]

Rome - Saba:

A new ship, "Handala," will set sail from the Italian port of Calabria today, Sunday, July 13, to break the siege of Gaza.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced last week that a new ship, "Handala," would set sail from the Italian port of Syracuse on July 13, as part of a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the naval blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip. This mission comes despite the attack on the coalition's ship, the "Madeleine," by enemy forces earlier this year.

The coalition affirmed, via its Facebook page, that the systematic targeting will not deter them from continuing their efforts to confront the blockade.

It pointed to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, where residents face death, in addition to the growing threats of famine and disease.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed on Sunday that the security establishment is monitoring the preparations of pro-Palestinian supporters to send a ship from Italy to break the blockade of Gaza and is monitoring its movements.

On June 9, the Israeli occupation army seized the "Madeleine" ship, part of the Freedom Flotilla, in international waters while it was en route to the besieged Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid. The ship was arrested along with 12 international activists on board.
