The Financial Times quoted sources as saying that Ukraine's Western allies believe that President Donald Trump is leaning toward considering President Vladimir Putin as a negotiating partner.
According to the newspaper, the Western allies believe that Trump sees Volodymyr Zelensky as the main obstacle to peace.
A Western official told the newspaper: "There is some emotion due to the change in tone, but we don't see this emotion turning into serious action."
Western allies believe that the US Patriot missile defense systems are indeed necessary for Ukraine's defense, but they will not affect its ability to respond or alter the overall dynamics of the conflict.
Earlier, Zelensky announced the resumption of arms deliveries from the United States to Ukraine.
On July 2, The New York Times reported that Washington would suspend the supply of Patriot missiles, precision-guided munitions (GMLRS), Hellfire guided missiles, Stinger man-portable air defense systems, and other weapons to Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry subsequently summoned the US Chargé d'Affaires in Kyiv, John Ginkel, and Zelensky stated that Europe cannot replace the United States in arms supplies.
On July 3, Trump stated that Washington would continue providing military assistance to Kyiv. On July 7, Trump announced the resumption of arms deliveries and military equipment to Ukraine.
