New Jersey – Saba:
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has announced his squad to face Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Alonso made a few changes to the lineup that defeated Borussia Dortmund 3–2 in the quarter-finals. The first major change sees French star Kylian Mbappé return to the starting eleven alongside young striker Gonzalo, following his full recovery from injury and illness.
The second change is a forced one due to the suspension of defender Dean Huijsen, who received a red card in the Dortmund match. Young defender Raúl Asensio will start in his place.
England international Trent Alexander-Arnold is absent from the squad after suffering a setback during Tuesday's training session.
Real Madrid’s starting lineup:
Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois
Defenders: Fran García, Antonio Rüdiger, Raúl Asensio, Fede Valverde
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Arda Güler
Forwards: Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé, Gonzalo García
Paris Saint-Germain’s lineup, as chosen by coach Luis Enrique:
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma
Defenders: Nuno Mendes, Beraldo, Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi
Midfielders: Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, João Neves
Forwards: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué
The winner of this clash will face Chelsea, who advanced to the final after defeating Brazil’s Fluminense 2–0 in the first semi-final.
