Berlin – Saba:
German police forcibly stopped a pro-Palestine march in Berlin on Saturday, which drew hundreds of demonstrators protesting the ongoing genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza.
According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, protesters gathered near the Wilmersdorfer Straße metro station in central Berlin, waving Palestinian flags and holding signs with slogans such as “Stop Starving Gaza,” “Israel is a War Criminal,” and “Zionism is the Cancer of the World.”
Chants echoed through the march condemning Israeli crimes in Gaza and criticizing the German government for supplying weapons to the Israeli regime.
After the march covered a distance of about 600 meters, German police stopped it, citing alleged legal violations.
Authorities announced via loudspeakers that demonstrators were only allowed to hold a one-hour sit-in at the intersection of Kant and Wieland streets.
Tensions escalated between protesters and police, who imposed tight restrictions. This led to clashes and the arrest of many participants.
