Berlin - Saba:

German authorities began evacuating another town due to a forest fire that broke out between the states of Saxony and Brandenburg on Friday.

Officials in the Meissen district said emergency services expected to evacuate about 45 people from their homes in the village of Jakobstalbahnhof in Saxony state as of yesterday evening.

The forest fire broke out in the Görischeide area, a former military training area, last Tuesday.

Officials said that no residential buildings were damaged in the town of Heidhäuser, which has already been evacuated, as "the fire brigade is currently under control, but this depends on the wind direction."

The evacuation order is in effect until Saturday evening, according to current plans.

About 400 firefighters, members of the German Technical Relief Agency, and other relief organizations were deployed after the fire spread to 1,000 hectares since it broke out late Tuesday.

Firefighting efforts are complicated by the presence of munitions in the soil.

Firefighters continue to battle two large blazes raging for the fourth consecutive day, with no rain expected in the coming days.
Emergency services are also battling a forest fire in the eastern state of Thuringia.

Temperatures are expected to rise again over the weekend, raising concerns that the fires could flare up again amid dry conditions.
