Gaza – SABA:

The Palestinian Journalists' Protection Committee (PJPC) strongly condemned on Thursday the assassination of journalist Mohammad Al-Sultan and several members of his family in an Israeli airstrike targeting their home in northern Gaza.

In a statement, the committee revealed that Al-Sultan had previously been detained by the Israeli occupation forces for 15 months before being released earlier this year as part of a prisoner exchange deal between Palestinian resistance factions and the Israeli entity.

The committee emphasized that "Israel continues its systematic crimes against journalists, killing one journalist in Gaza every 60 hours - an unprecedented rate in modern history." This constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which guarantees protection for journalists during conflicts.

The PJPC called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all international media organizations to condemn these deliberate crimes against Palestinian journalists in Gaza and take action to hold the Israeli entity accountable under international law.

The statement further urged immediate international intervention to protect journalists in Gaza, describing Israel's targeting of media professionals as part of a broader attempt to conceal its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.
