Four Injured in Ax Attack on Train Passengers in Germany

Four people were injured after a man attacked passengers on a train with an ax in the Bavarian region of southeastern Germany, and the perpetrator was detained.

German news agency Focus reported: "On Thursday afternoon, an ax attack occurred targeting several passengers on a train."

German police stated that four people suffered minor injuries, according to preliminary reports on the incident, which took place in Straßkirchen (Straubing-Bogen district). No one is in life-threatening condition based on the current situation.

According to the agency, passengers pulled the emergency brake, and one of them disarmed the attacker. The suspect was arrested and was allegedly carrying not only an ax but also a hammer.

Per "Bild," the assailant was seriously injured after being struck by a passenger and is currently receiving medical treatment under police supervision.

Focus reported that the incident occurred around 2:00 PM on the route between Straubing and Plattling. The train, carrying approximately 500 passengers, was headed to Vienna.

The railway line was initially closed, with large numbers of firefighters, police, and rescue teams deployed to the scene.
