Araghchi: US aggression on nuclear facilities betrayal for diplomacy
[03/ July/2025]

Tehran - Saba:

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the US military aggression against Iran's civilian nuclear facilities as a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the rule of law, international rights, and the nuclear nonproliferation regime.

Iran's official news agency, IRNA, reported on Thursday that Araghchi discussed the latest developments in the region with Ronald Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, following the cessation of military aggression by the Zionist entity and the United States against Iran, in a phone call on Wednesday.

During the call, Araghchi expressed his appreciation for South Africa's position in condemning the Zionist apartheid regime's military aggression against Iran, saying, "The Zionist regime's illegal and terrorist attacks on Iran are a result of its impunity and the international community's failure to respond to its crimes in Gaza and its attacks on Lebanon and Syria. All its supporters and backers are complicit in its crimes."

He pointed out that the Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran occurred amid negotiations and with the support and assistance of the United States. The United States itself then launched a military attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, stressing that the American action constitutes a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the rule of law, international rights, and the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

For his part, the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation expressed his sympathy and condolences to Iran, strongly condemning the Zionist regime's aggression against Iranian territory and its attack on nuclear facilities. He emphasized that South Africa is using all its energies to preserve the nuclear non-proliferation regime and comprehensive negotiations to maintain international peace and security.

The Iranian and South African foreign ministers also condemned the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza. They stressed the need for the international community to take urgent action to stop the gross violations of human rights and the genocide of Palestinians.
