Sana'a – Saba:
The General Authority for Antiquities and Museums in Sana'a expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the crime of bombing the historic Dome of the Virgin Mary, an archaeological landmark located in the Al-Sharifa area, which is under the control of the aggression mercenaries in Al-Dhale’ province.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Authority clarified that the dome is not a place of worship but rather an archaeological site containing centuries-old tombs, representing a rare architectural masterpiece and a historical symbol.
The Authority called on international organizations concerned with the protection of human heritage to assume their responsibilities regarding the systematic targeting and deliberate destruction of Yemeni heritage. It stressed that such actions constitute a crime against Yemeni history and civilization.
The Authority warned that the continued silence of the international community in the face of these violations encourages further tampering with Yemen's cultural and humanitarian heritage. It also called for holding those responsible for this criminal act accountable.
