Mexico City - (Saba):
Tropical Storm Flossie has strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane off Mexico’s southwestern Pacific coast, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
Flossie is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h (75 mph) and is located about 280 km (175 miles) south of Manzanillo, moving northwest at 17 km/h (10 mph).
The hurricane is expected to remain near the coast for several days, bringing heavy rainfall to parts of Mexico. A tropical storm warning has been issued from Punta San Telmo to Playa Perula.
