The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the absurd statements and inappropriate behavior of U.S. President Donald Trump toward the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian people.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that these derogatory remarks and behaviors, which violate diplomatic ethics and protocol, not only constitute a blatant breach of shared global principles and values as well as the provisions of the United Nations Charter—which upholds the right to self-determination for nations—but also represent a clear example of disrespect toward an ancient nation and civilization, provoking the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims in the region and around the world.
The Foreign Ministry added that such insulting and provocative statements and actions against Iran and its respected political and religious figures—held in high regard by Iranians and Muslims worldwide—will only deepen disgust and hatred toward America’s short-sighted policies and further undermine the credibility of its claims of seeking dialogue and engagement.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry advised U.S. officials to take responsibility for America’s violations of law and blatant breaches of international law—including its unlawful attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and its support for the Zionist entity’s crimes against the Iranian people and the region—instead of resorting to insulting rhetoric and frequent shifts in stance.
