The local authority in Sana'a province, the branch of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation, and the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project handed over on Sunday the sites for a solar power system installation project to operate wells belonging to the Local Corporation’s branch in Matnah, Bani Matar District, to the implementing party.
The project involves supplying and installing a solar power generation system to operate two wells affiliated with the corporation’s branch in Matnah, funded by the World Bank through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) at a cost of $290,000.
During the handover, the directors of the Local Corporation in the province, Ali Al-Thayb, and the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, Engineer Mohammed Al-Shami, emphasized the importance of implementing such projects to alleviate citizens' suffering caused by water shortages due to population density in Matnah.
Meanwhile, Engineer Fuad Al-Ma'dani, Director of the Corporation’s branch in Matnah, noted that the branch, with the support of the local authority, has made significant progress in implementing necessary measures to provide water to the city despite population growth and urban expansion.
