Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Esmail Baghaei described Germany’s support for the Zionist regime’s aggression as “absurd.”
In a post on the social media platform X, monitored by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on Friday, Baghaei criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz for backing what he called a genocidal entity.
He wrote: “Chancellor Friedrich Merz insists on placing himself more and more on the wrong side of history by supporting a regime that commits genocide.”
“It is utterly absurd for a statesman to ignore such blatant aggression and violations of international law — let alone attempt to justify such crimes,” he added.
Baghaei continued, “When the leader of a country with the legacy of Berlin 1945 deviates from the slogan ‘Never again war’ (Nie wieder Krieg) and instead supports aggression, war crimes, and genocide, he is not only turning his back on the conscience of history but insulting the collective conscience of the German people.”
