UNRWA: Refugee camps in northern west bank facing continuous destruction
[26/ June/2025]

Ramallah – SABA:

The Director of UNRWA Affairs in the West Bank, Roland Friedrich, stated on Thursday that the West Bank has not seen any ceasefire, and refugee camps in its northern areas are undergoing continuous destruction, with dozens of buildings demolished over the past 12 days.

In a press statement, Friedrich explained that Israeli occupation forces continue to demolish homes and buildings in the camps of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams, depriving many families of even the minimum level of dignity, as they are unable to salvage their belongings before Israeli bulldozers arrive.

He added, “We now stand witness to camps that have turned into rubble after once being full of life. This is not merely destruction—it is part of a systematic policy of forced displacement, a blatant violation of international law, and a form of collective punishment,” according to the Palestinian Safa news agency.

Friedrich emphasized the urgent need to allow displaced residents to return to their homes without delay.

He also noted that UNRWA schools are preparing to receive students at the start of the upcoming academic year, and its health centers are ready to serve patients.

He stressed the importance of supporting Palestinian refugees to help them recover from the consequences of displacement and destruction, and to rebuild their lives.
