Meteorology Expects varying intensity rainfall, strong winds

Sana'a - (Saba):

The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning forecasts varying intensity rainfall across several governorates and strong winds, leading to rough seas, over the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin that varying intensity rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is expected across parts of the governorates of Ibb, Ad Dali', Dhamar, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, Saada, and the highlands of Lahj.

Scattered rain is also likely to fall across parts of the governorates of Ad Dali', the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, Dhale'a the western regions of Sana'a, Jawf, and the Socotra Archipelago.

The center indicated the possibility of strong to very strong winds across the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern coasts, the Gulf of Aden, and Bab al-Mandab.

The amount of rainfall over the past 24 hours, measured at some meteorological stations in Ibb, was 16.0 mm, Hajjah 12.2 mm, Al Mahwit 0.3 mm, and Dhamar 0.1 mm.

Scattered rains fell on parts of the governorates of Taiz, Raymah, Amran, Saada, and Lahj, but were outside the stations' range.

The center warned citizens of thunderstorms and of staying in or crossing floodwaters during and after rainfall, as well as of crossing land bridges during floods.

Seafarers, fishermen, and ship captains were also warned of rough seas and high waves around the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern coasts, the Gulf of Aden, and Bab al-Mandab.
