The Al-Thawra Multipurpose Cooperative Association was officially launched today in Al-Thawra District, Amanat Al-Asimah (Capital Secretariat), in a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local and Rural Development Mohammed Al-Madani, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan Al-Rubaie, and the Mayor of the Capital Dr. Hamoud Obad.
During the founding meeting, organized by the preparatory committee with support from the local authority’s Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Funding Unit, in coordination with Bonyan Development Foundation and the Capital’s Social Affairs Office, participants approved the association’s bylaws and elected the administrative and oversight committees.
In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the vital role of multipurpose cooperative associations in driving development and reinforcing collaborative community-based efforts. He stressed that such cooperation is foundational for the country’s development phase, helping to mobilize both official and public efforts toward shared goals.
He added that local authorities alone cannot reach every household and street, highlighting the importance of community initiatives and associations in addressing issues and promoting agricultural, economic, and social development.
The Minister of Agriculture underscored the developmental role of cooperative associations and called for enhanced coordination between government entities and community organizations, especially in agricultural development, urban greening, and raising public awareness about farming and environmental preservation.
The Mayor of the Capital stressed the importance of community associations in supporting local government efforts to provide essential services and promote development. He highlighted the need to empower families to participate in all aspects of development, particularly agriculture, to help achieve self-sufficiency.
