Asian stocks rise following ceasefire declaration between Iran, Israel

Bangkok - Saba:

Asian stock indices rose on Tuesday after the announcement of a ceasefire between the occupying entity and Iran.

US futures rose, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Averages both rising 0.5%.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose 1% to 38,756 points.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 1.7% to 24,078.94 points, and the Shanghai Composite index rose 0.9% to 3,411.92 points.

South Korea's Kospi index rose 2.3% to 3,082.90 points, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index rose 0.9% to 8,551.40 points.

US stock indices rose on Monday, with the S&P 500 index rising 1% to 6,025.17 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.9% to 42,581.78 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.9% to 19,630.97 points.

In energy markets, the price of US West Texas Intermediate crude fell 2.7% to $66.67 a barrel, while Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, fell 2.5% to $69.68 a barrel.

In currency markets, the US dollar fell against the Japanese yen, reaching 145.34 yen from 145.16 yen, while the euro rose to $1.1604 from $1.1575.
