Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine: Trump’s Admission of U.S. Funding for Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is proof of American involvement in destabilizing region
[22/ June/2025]
Gaza – Saba:
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) stated on Sunday evening that U.S. President Donald Trump’s admission that "the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam was built with stupid American funding, which significantly reduced the Nile’s water flow," is further confirmation of the ongoing criminal schemes by the U.S. administration to undermine the stability and sovereignty of Arab nations, particularly Egypt, in service of Zionist interests.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the PFLP emphasized that this public admission clearly exposes the extent of American military, political, and financial involvement in supporting projects that target the security and historical rights of Arab peoples, particularly Egypt’s water security, which is a cornerstone of its national stability.

The statement pointed out that "U.S. backing for the Renaissance Dam project, along with Zionist involvement in supporting it and systematically inciting against Egypt, is an integral part of a malicious scheme to drain Egypt’s resources and weaken its regional role, serving the broader Zionist domination project."

It added, "It has become evident that this project is part of a wider multi-faceted aggression against regional states, as the U.S. employs both direct and indirect tools to dismantle national sovereignty structures and penetrate societies through water, economic, and conflict-related means."

The statement further noted that "these policies, now practiced under the guise of development and diplomacy, are nothing but an extension of colonialism in new forms."

The PFLP called for "a unified Arab and African stance to confront these policies, which now threaten Egyptian national security and the future of entire nations."

It demanded "exposing and documenting the American and Zionist role in fueling conflicts, and building popular and official opposition to these policies based on bullying and unilateralism."

The Front reaffirmed "the right of nations, especially Egypt, to defend their sovereignty and resources, including taking deterrent measures to halt this reckless behavior by the U.S. administration." It stressed that "targeting Egypt today is a link in a long chain of conspiracies against the region, and confronting this project requires clear political will and a conscious popular movement to curb this comprehensive American-Zionist aggression against the peoples, sovereignty, lands, and resources of the region."
