Doha – Saba:
Member of the Political Bureau and head of al-Quds Affairs Office of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Haroun Nasser al-Din stressed on Sunday that the complete closure of the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque and the repeated attacks on worshippers and guards represent a flagrant violation of the historical and legal status of the mosque and a dangerous escalation in the Zionist enemy's religious and Judaization war against Islamic holy sites.
In a press statement, Nasser al-Din considered the arrests of mosque guards and members of the Waqf staff to be a direct targeting of Islamic religious sovereignty in al-Quds and an attempt to facilitate further settler incursions into the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque.
Nasser al-Din warned of the dangerous consequences of these aggressive policies for stability in the Holy City and the entire region, as any attack on al-Aqsa is an attack on the dignity of the entire nation.
Hamas leaders called on the people of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories to mobilize, rally, and defend the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque, and maintain a large presence in its courtyards, to stand up against attempts to impose temporal and spatial division.
They called on Arab and Islamic countries and international institutions to take urgent action to halt the escalating Israeli attacks and work to protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in al-Quds.
