Iranian Internal Security Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi announced the arrest of two Mossad agents in western Tehran.
Iran's Mehr News Agency quoted Brigadier General Montazer al-Mahdi as saying in a statement on Friday: "In operations carried out by police in western Tehran on Thursday evening, two Mossad agents, both foreign nationals residing illegally in the country, were arrested."
He added, "These two agents had sent a map of the IRIB and the home of an official in the Sa'adatabad district of Tehran to the cell leader in Germany via WhatsApp before the explosion.
He said, "These two terrorists were working to relay the location of a senior state official when they were tracked and arrested by the Internal Security Forces' intelligence service."
Brigadier General Montazer al-Mahdi stated, "Based on the defendants' confessions, $2,000 was deposited into their accounts abroad for each operation they carried out."
