Israeli media reported that the Israeli army began deploying Barak air defense system batteries in several areas on June 20, 2025, to counter Iranian drones.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that this is the first time the system has been used operationally, amid reports of the ineffectiveness of previous defense systems in countering Iranian attacks.
