A powerful earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck the Sorkheh area of Semnan Province, northern Iran, and was felt in several nearby cities, including Tehran, Firouzkoh, Gilan, Qom, Karaj, Damavand, and Shahr-e Ray.
Tasnim International News Agency reported that the Iranian Geophysical Center stated that the earthquake occurred at 9:19:13 p.m. on Friday, at latitude 35.45 north and longitude 53.02 east, at a depth of 10 kilometers below the Earth's surface.
