Moscow – SABA:
The Russian Central Bank announced a historic shift in international payment trends on Monday, revealing that ruble payments exceeded 50% of Russia's total import value from Asian countries for the first time in April.
According to Russia Today, the ruble's share in Asian import settlements surged by 15.6% annually to reach 51.9% – surpassing the previous record of 49.5% set in February.
Global Ruble Dominance (April 2025):
- Americas: 60.2% of payments
- Europe: 67.6%
- Africa: 68%
- Caribbean: 77.5%
This marks a strategic decoupling from Western currencies amid ongoing sanctions, with the ruble now accounting for over half of Russia’s global trade payments.
