The British newspaper The Guardian reported on Friday that the University of Michigan uses undercover private investigators to monitor pro-Palestine student groups.
The newspaper said the investigators' mission is to track pro-Palestine students on and off campus, record their conversations, and eavesdrop on them.
It added that some of the evidence collected by the undercover investigators was used by prosecutors to indict and imprison the students.
The newspaper confirmed that the university paid at least $800,000 between June 2023 and September 2024 to the private security company.
It continued, "The undercover investigators appear to be working for a Detroit-based private security company."
