Moscow - Saba:

The Iranian embassy in Russia reported that its ambassador, Kazem Jalali, has met with Dmitry Bakanov, head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, and discussed developing cooperation between the two countries.

The Iranian Embassy in Moscow reported on Friday evening: "The two sides discussed space cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation in the development of advanced technologies and the joint design and construction of satellites."

The Iranian ambassador and the head of the Russian Space Agency also addressed other topics, including joint infrastructure development, training courses and knowledge exchange, countering Western sanctions, and supporting joint initiatives to maintain international peace and security.

Iran and Russia have previously cooperated in the space sector, including the successful launch of the Iranian satellite "Khayyam" into an orbit 500 kilometers above Earth on August 9, 2022, aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The Hodhod and Kowsar satellites were also successfully launched on November 5, 2024, aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia, and entered orbit 500 kilometers above Earth.
