Governor of Russia's Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on Friday that a railway locomotive had derailed, indicating that it may have been caused by a railway line bombing.
Sputnik quoted Gladkov as saying in a statement on his Telegram channel: "A spare diesel locomotive derailed in the Prokhorovsky district. According to preliminary information, the cause was an explosive device placed under the tracks."
He noted that "there were no casualties" at the scene. He explained that train services were "delayed for two and a half hours, and all trains are now operating according to schedule."
Gladkov added that "a portion of the railway line was damaged, and the repair team has begun restoring the damaged section."
