Sana’a – SABA:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the United States’ use of the veto power at the United Nations Security Council to block a resolution proposed by the ten non-permanent member states of the Council. The draft resolution called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the lifting of all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the ministry noted that the U.S. has used its veto five times since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, and dozens of times over the past decades, solely to shield the Zionist entity and allow it to commit genocide against the Palestinian people.
The statement emphasized that this move reaffirms that America is a partner in all genocide crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza and serves as further evidence of the absolute bias of successive U.S. administrations in favor of the criminal Zionist regime.
It also highlighted that the repeated use of the U.S. veto clearly demonstrates the urgent need to reform the Security Council, particularly in regard to its membership structure and voting mechanisms, in order for the Council to effectively fulfill its mandate of maintaining international peace and security.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated the steadfast position of the Republic of Yemen, which fully supports the Palestinian people and their valiant resistance in the face of the barbaric Zionist aggression on Gaza.
