Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi on Monday inspected the maintenance and restoration work underway at the fishing port in Hodeida.
They received a briefing on the port's operations, ongoing development plans, and efforts to improve performance from the Vice Chairman of the Fisheries Authority.
Minister al-Rubai commended the port's leadership and the Fisheries Authority for maintaining fishing activities despite current challenges. He stressed the importance of completing the port's maintenance to enhance efficiency and accommodate increased fish traffic, as well as the need to expedite the automation of administrative tasks. He also praised the local authorities' support for port development.
Governor Atifi affirmed the governorate's commitment to supporting fishing port projects and assisting the Ministry and Fisheries Authority in overcoming challenges in the fishing sector, highlighting the port's vital role in the local economy and livelihoods.
The Minister and Governor toured the port's facilities and reviewed the progress of maintenance, noting the remaining needs for completion.
