The Russian state corporation Rostec confirmed that Western air defense systems operating in Ukraine, including the American Patriot air defense systems, are unable to shoot down the Russian Iskander missile, but can only monitor its flight.
Sputnik quoted the company as saying: "The enemy is unable to repel the Iskander system's strikes, as the ballistic missile moves along a complex and unpredictable trajectory at tremendous speed."
Rostec added: "It should be noted that the maneuverability of ballistic missiles significantly exceeds that of the vast majority of NATO air defense missiles."
Rostec added, "In reality, the enemy can only observe the flight of these missiles, knowing that their facilities are bound to be destroyed."
It is worth noting that the Iskander missile's warhead power allows it to destroy targets at a considerable distance from the missile's impact point.
If an air defense system is hit by the shock wave and fragments of this munition, it is impossible to restore it to service.
On May 22, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian forces had destroyed two missile launchers of the US Patriot air defense system in the Dnepropetrovsk region with a strike from the Iskander operational-tactical missile system.
