The Russian aviation agency Rosaviatsia reported on Sunday that temporary restrictions have been imposed on the operations of Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports in the capital, Moscow.

The agency confirmed that the temporary restrictions on the operations of the airports are a necessary measure to ensure aviation safety, according to Russia Today.

The statement from the Russian aviation agency stated that the airports will temporarily not receive any aircraft, and that scheduled flights will also not depart. It noted that "aircraft crews, air traffic control, and airport services are all taking the necessary measures to ensure aviation safety, and this is a priority."

For his part, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced via Telegram that air defense forces destroyed four drones flying towards Moscow on Sunday, adding that emergency services specialists were at the sites where the debris fell.

Media sources also reported that the drones that attacked Moscow were Ukrainian aircraft as part of the ongoing war between the two countries.
