Hodeida - Saba:

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, a joint UN mission visited Hodeida Governorate to assess the humanitarian situation and urgent needs amid the ongoing repercussions of war, floods, and natural disasters. The mission was led by Maria Rosaria Bruno and included representatives from several United Nations organizations.

The delegation discussed with Hodeida Governor, Abdullah Atifi, the most pressing service challenges in the areas of health, water, education, roads, and civil defense. Calls were made to expand humanitarian and developmental interventions to alleviate the suffering of the population.

Local authorities, represented by Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakel and the governorate’s deputies, emphasized the importance of opening humanitarian corridors and the readiness of Hodeida Port to receive aid. They highlighted the urgent need for swift and effective support.

For her part, Bruno explained that insufficient funding had delayed some interventions, calling for enhanced coordination and accelerated response, particularly to combat epidemics. She affirmed the mission’s alignment with the local authorities' priorities in relief efforts and climate change adaptation.
