Shaab Ibb & Tadhamun Hadhramaut Qualify for Yemeni First Division Basketball League

Shaab Ibb and Tadhamun Hadhramaut have secured promotion to the Yemeni First Division Basketball League after topping their respective groups in the final stage of the Second Division League.

Shaab Ibb claimed first place in Group One (Sana'a Cluster), while Tadhamun Hadhramaut dominated Group Two (Seiyun Cluster).

Shaab Ibb’s Victory
Shaab Ibb sealed their qualification with a decisive 77-50 win over 22 May Team in their final match at Al-Ahli Sports Hall in Sana'a. Under the guidance of coach Dr. Caesar Alami and bolstered by experienced players, including Egyptian professional Mohamed Ezzat, Shaab Ibb controlled the game from the start.

The team led 26-12 in the first quarter and extended their advantage to 17-10 in the second. Despite a resilient effort from 22 May Team, led by coach Abdulkarim Al-Halali, Shaab Ibb maintained dominance, winning the third and fourth quarters 13-12 and 21-16, respectively.

With this victory, Shaab Ibb finished atop the group with 4 points, while 22 May Team took second place with 3 points, and Hilal Al-Hudaydah came in third with 2 points.

Following the match, Ali Hadhban, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports for Sports Affairs, Mohammed Al-Ahjri, Secretary-General of the Yemeni Olympic Committee, Mohammed Al-Sarmi, President of the Yemeni Tennis and Squash Federation, and Abdulsattar Al-Hamdani, President of the Yemeni Basketball Federation, honored Shaab Ibb with the Group One trophy.

Tadhamun Hadhramaut’s Triumph
In Seiyun, Tadhamun Hadhramaut secured their promotion with a 65-49 victory over Wahda Tarim at the Seiyun Sports Hall. Tadhamun started strong, taking the first quarter 23-7, and maintained their lead in the second quarter (14-12).

Despite Wahda Tarim’s improved performance in the fourth quarter (16-7), Tadhamun’s earlier dominance ensured their victory, finishing with a 16-point margin.

Tadhamun topped Group Two with 4 points, while Wahda Tarim placed second (3 points), and Talia Lahj finished third (2 points).

Upcoming Final Clash
Shaab Ibb and Tadhamun Hadhramaut will face off in a later match to determine the Second Division League champion. The competition has been highly competitive, with most teams strengthening their squads with foreign professional players.
