Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora stated that Moscow and Pyongyang intend to exchange high-level delegations.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia on Tuesday, Matsegora said, "I believe the exchange of delegations will take place before the end of this year."
The Russian ambassador noted that this will take place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea, on August 15, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, on October 10."
Matsegora indicated that "the active exchange of delegations will continue through parliamentary channels and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
It is noteworthy that during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang on June 18 and 19, Russia and North Korea signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in healthcare, medical education, and science, an agreement on the construction of a border bridge for vehicles across the Tumanaya River, and a new comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between the two countries.
