Baghdad – Saba:
The 34th Ordinary Session of the Arab Summit concluded Saturday evening in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with the participation of the heads of state and representatives of the member states of the Council of the League of Arab States.
The final statement called on the international community to implement the UN Security Council resolutions issued since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in October 2023, urging the international community to fulfill all its legal obligations immediately.
While praising the sanctity of occupied al-Quds and its religious status, it condemned the Israeli aggression's attempts to Judaize the city and alter its Arab and Islamic identity.
While praising the honorable positions of South Africa in supporting the Palestinian cause and its people, it expressed full support, appreciation, and endorsement for South Africa's position in the lawsuit against the Israeli aggression.
It affirmed support for the diplomatic efforts of the ministerial committee emanating from the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Gaza to urge an immediate ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid into all areas of the Gaza Strip, appreciating the positions of European countries.
Observers expressed disappointment with the summit's results, noting that they failed to address the Palestinian bloodshed and suffering spreading in the Gaza Strip, and the escalating Israeli aggression across the occupied Palestinian territories. The observers considered the Arab Summit's failure to move beyond the circle of submission to be a reflection of the reality of the collapse in which the Arab regimes continue to live.
They considered that any results that are not practical cannot be relied upon to make a difference on the ground, given the Zionist enemy's continued killing, starvation, thirst, and destruction of everything in the Gaza Strip and across the occupied territories, in full view of the entire world and with absolute American support.
The observers emphasized that the summit's outcome only reinforces the responsibility placed on the Arab peoples to speak out and consolidate their position in support of the Palestinian cause by pressuring the regimes to rise to the historic responsibility for which God will hold them accountable on the Day of Judgment.
