Barcelona intends to renew the contract of German coach Hansi Flick after leading the team to a historic season by all standards, the Catalan club officially announced.
Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup at the beginning of this year against their traditional rivals Real Madrid in the final held in Saudi Arabia, a match they won 5-2.
Barcelona also won the Copa del Rey after defeating Real Madrid 3-2 at La Cartuja Stadium.
Barcelona's celebrations were completed by officially winning the Spanish league title with two rounds remaining in La Liga, with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Joan Laporta announced the renewal of coach Flick's contract for another year.
Laporta said, "We are very happy with the work Flick is doing. He has succeeded in turning things around and restoring the team's competitive spirit."
Laporta continued, "Flick is happy at Barcelona and is having a great time. He is very excited about the project and has told us that he is going through one of the most beautiful phases of his career." Flick's contract expires in the summer of 2026, and Barcelona is keen to secure the German coach's stay for at least another year.
