Insan Organization: Targeting Yemeni Ports Violates Principles of International Humanitarian Law
[17/ May/2025]
Sana'a - (Saba):

Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms affirmed that the Israeli warplanes' targeting of Yemeni ports is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes a full-fledged war crime.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the organization indicated that targeting civilian infrastructure protected under the Geneva Conventions is a systematic behavior that warrants international accountability.

The organization stated, "The danger of this escalation is heightened by public Israeli threats to carry out assassinations against Yemeni figures. This constitutes a serious violation of the rules of engagement and a breach of the sovereignty of an independent state. It must be included in the files of violations before the International Court of Justice."

The statement called on the international community, particularly the Human Rights Council and the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions, to take urgent action to protect civilians in Yemen, to launch an independent international investigation to hold accountable those involved in these attacks, which have claimed the lives of numerous civilians, and to reject the policy of impunity that encourages further crimes in the region.
