Four killed in Algeria floods & torrential rains

Algeria - (Saba):

Four people were killed as a result of the heavy rains that have hit the northern provinces of Algeria since Wednesday night, leading to torrential rains and flooding.

Civil Protection in Algeria said on Thursday that its services intervened in the village of Ouled Obeid Allah in Djelfa Province after a bus swerved and overturned due to the rising water level of a river.

The incident resulted in the death of three people and the injury of 34 others, 33 of whom suffered shock and one person suffered a serious hand injury.

The Civil Protection reported that two people were rescued from a car stuck due to the rising water level of the Hay Banat Belkhel River.

In the municipality of Charf, three people were rescued from a car stuck due to the rising water level of the Bakrirch River.

In the municipality of Idrissia, two people were rescued from a car stuck due to the rising water level of the Matriha River. Civil Protection confirmed on Wednesday evening the death of a 13-year-old boy who sustained multiple injuries from hailstones falling in the Raml Valley in the Umm Al-Khashab area of the Selmana municipality, in the far south of Djelfa province.
