Sana'a - Saba:

The emergency team at the Executive Mine Action Center (EMAC) extracted on Wednesday an unexploded GBU-31(V)1B (Mk-84) JDAM missile from Sana'a International Airport.

The center explained in a statement that the team's work, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), included securing the airport perimeter.

The center explained that the recovered missile is a direct-attack munition manufactured by the American company Boeing and can target and kill living creatures at a range exceeding 300 meters.

The center indicated that the missile caused a crater 15 meters wide and 11 meters deep in the airport runway. It noted that these missiles have been used by the aggression coalition countries over the past ten years in 10 Yemeni governorates, and that the Israeli entity used them to target Sana'a Airport.

It stated that the provisions of Articles 48, 50, 51, 52 and 57 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, as well as Customary Rules 1, 14 and 15 of International Humanitarian Law, stipulate the distinction between civilians and combatants, prohibit indiscriminate attacks against civilians and civilian objects, and stipulate the need to take all feasible precautions to minimize civilian harm.
