Copenhagen - (Saba):

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stressed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's announcement of a strong resumption of fighting in Gaza is dangerous and contrary to all international rules.

In press statements broadcast by Danish television on Wednesday, Rasmussen expressed his dismay at what he called "Netanyahu's provocative plans in Gaza," stressing that they "violate all applicable international rules."

Earlier, Netanyahu said that there would be no end to the war on Gaza, but that a "ceasefire could be reached for a specific period to release prisoners from Gaza, after which the fighting would resume until the end."

Rasmussen expressed his dismay at what he considered Israel's evasion of its responsibilities, saying, "It must assume its responsibilities in Gaza, and it is not fulfilling them. I am not exaggerating when I express my dismay."

He pointed out that "the idea of launching an attack and forcibly displacing Palestinians contradicts everything that is in effect (internationally), and we strongly reject it."

Rasmussen's statements come after he expressed optimism about a halt to the war in Gaza following the release of Israeli-American prisoner Idan Alexander last Monday.

He stressed in his statements that Israel must fulfill its obligations, including ensuring the entry of emergency aid into Gaza. He said, "No emergency aid has reached Gaza for more than 60 days, and this is inconsistent with Israel's obligations."

It is noteworthy that Denmark has adopted a cautious policy regarding condemning the enemy in its war on the Gaza Strip, although it has criticized settlement violence in the West Bank.
