The official opening ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest, held this year in Basel, Switzerland, witnessed anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian protests.
According to the Palestinian WAFA News Agency, the demonstrators raised Palestinian flags, demanded Israel's exclusion from the competition, and chanted anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian slogans.
Swiss singer Nemo, who won last year's Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, said he opposes Israel's participation in this year's contest and supports calls for its exclusion.
