Ireland calls for review of EU-Israel association agreement
[11/ May/2025]
Dublin - Saba:

Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Simon Harris called on Sunday for a review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

In a post on X platform, Harris noted that the EU-Israel Association Agreement includes provisions related to human rights.

He said, "These provisions stipulate that relations must be based on respect for human rights," adding, "These words must have meaning, and the agreement must be reviewed. The world is doing almost nothing."

The Irish Deputy Prime Minister indicated that he would like to discuss this issue with his European counterparts.

He explained that they have a responsibility to do everything possible to stop the violence, increase humanitarian aid, and immediately release all prisoners.

Harris' statement comes amid the genocidal war being waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which includes killing, destruction, starvation, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals.
