Closing of capacity-building training for administrative members of agricultural cooperatives in Taiz

Taiz - Saba:
A training course on "Enhancing the Capacities of Administrative Bodies in Agricultural Cooperative Societies" concluded on Sunday in Taiz province, organized by Bonyan Foundation.

The closing ceremony marked the end of the program targeting cooperative societies in the districts of Sharhab Al-Salam, Sharhab Al-Rawdah, Mawiyah, and Al-Masrakh, implemented by the Bonyan Training and Rehabilitation Academy from April 29 to May 11, 2025.

The two-week course, supervised by the local authorities and funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Financing and Projects Unit in the province, aimed to equip 41 trainees from administrative bodies and cooperatives in the targeted districts with skills in identifying opportunities, resource mobilization, and supporting farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers to build a resilient community economy. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Agricultural Cooperative Union, the Social Affairs Office, and the Agriculture Office in Taiz.

During the closing ceremony, Ahmed Al-Masawi, the Acting Governor of Taiz, emphasized the importance of the course in developing the capacities of administrative members of agricultural cooperatives in the fields of crop production, livestock, and beekeeping.

He expressed hope for collective efforts to implement the training outcomes on the ground, enhancing sustainable local development. Al-Masawi described the course as a positive step toward understanding the mechanisms of development actors involved in the province’s developmental projects.

Al-Masawi highlighted the role of district directors in supporting agricultural cooperatives, which serve as key intermediaries between farmers, producers, and markets. He urged farmers to expand agricultural production during the rainy seasons, stressing their crucial role in achieving food security.

The event was attended by Mohammed Al-Husseini and Abdulwase’a Al-Shamsi, Deputy Governors of Taiz, Mohammed Al-Khalidi, the Mobilization Officer, Abdullah Al-Jundi, Agriculture Office Director in Taiz, Samir Al-Subai, Agriculture Office Director in Lahj, and Amer Al-Ahdal, Executive Director of the Agricultural Cooperative Union.

During the ceremony, Sadiq Al-Askari, speaking on behalf of the trainees, described the course as a foundation for sustainable agricultural development amid the challenges facing Yemen’s agricultural sector.

He stressed the need to overcome obstacles and transform them into opportunities to advance agriculture, praising Bonyan Academy for its outstanding organization and support for the trainees.
