Muscat - (Saba):
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that the fourth round of indirect negotiations with the United States was more serious and frank than the previous three rounds.
According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Araqchi explained after the conclusion of the round of negotiations in Muscat: "We moved away from the general frameworks a little and delved into the details, which makes the negotiating atmosphere more difficult under such circumstances."
He added: The next round of negotiations is likely to be held in about a week, with the possibility of a one-day delay or advance, and the timing will be determined by the Sultanate of Oman.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that the uranium enrichment issue is "non-negotiable in any way," stressing that "this activity must continue."
He added: "Some temporary restrictions on certain aspects of enrichment, such as quantity, level, or capacity, may be accepted for the purpose of building confidence and for a specific period of time, as has been done in the past, but the basic principle of enrichment is not up for negotiation."
He pointed out that "on contentious issues, the two sides are now closer to each other, and a better understanding of each other's positions has been achieved."
