Ramallah – Saba:
The Federation of Palestinian Professional Unions praised the decision by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) to "boycott the Zionist enemy entity and impose a complete ban on trade and investment with its companies," considering it a courageous step and a noble stance that reflects a conscious alignment with justice and human dignity, as well as a clear victory for the rights of the Palestinian people.
In a press statement released on Saturday, the Federation emphasized that this decision comes amid the ongoing crimes committed by the enemy against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where genocide and consecutive massacres continue, alongside the systematic destruction of infrastructure , the complete collapse of the health, education, and service systems. This is compounded by practices of forced displacement and starvation, in blatant violation of international and humanitarian law—all under the watch of the international community, which maintains its shameful silence and complicity in the face of the occupation’s crimes.
The Federation stressed that the role of unions worldwide has become an urgent duty, and that boycotting the enemy is a moral and humanitarian responsibility that tolerates no neutrality, as it is one of the most effective tools of civil resistance that exposes the occupation and contributes to its isolation.
It called on all labor and professional unions worldwide to shoulder their historical responsibilities and take concrete steps, starting with a comprehensive boycott of the occupying entity and its institutions, while exerting international pressure to prosecute and hold its leaders accountable for their crimes.
The statement affirmed that boycotting the enemy helps stop genocide and represents the restoration of the bare minimum of justice and human dignity, adding that this courageous stance will never be forgotten and will be etched in the memory of the Palestinian people.
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) is the largest labor union in Norway and is allied with the ruling Labor Party. Its influence often extends beyond traditional workers' rights issues.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in over 172,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 14,000 missing persons.
