London - Saba:
Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has achieved a new historic achievement by being named the Premier League Player of the Year for 2025.
Salah, the Liverpool striker, received the award presented by the English Football Writers' Association for the third time in his career, becoming the second player to achieve this feat after Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
The Egyptian star continues to shine with Liverpool, topping the Premier League scoring charts with 28 goals this season, directly contributing to his team's second title since joining in 2017.
Salah received 90 percent of the votes from the 900-member Football Writers' Association, according to an official statement from the English Football Association, noting that this percentage is the highest in nearly three decades.
Liverpool's Dutch star, Virgil van Dijk, came in second place, followed by Newcastle's Alexander Isak, and Arsenal's Declan Rice.
Mohamed Salah is scheduled to receive the award at an official ceremony in London on May 22.
It's worth noting that Salah achieved a historic achievement a few weeks ago, becoming the all-time leading foreign scorer in the English Premier League. He scored his 185th goal in the title match against Tottenham, surpassing Sergio Aguero's record (184 goals). He also became the fifth highest scorer in the Premier League's history, closing in on fourth place, held by Andrew Cole with 187 goals.
