Seoul - (Saba):
The South Korean military announced that North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Thursday, its first ballistic missile test since last March.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said, according to Yonhap News Agency, that it monitored the launch, which included various types of short-range ballistic missiles, from the eastern coastal city of Wonsan in North Korea.
It reported that one of the missiles launched by the North today flew 800 kilometers before falling into the East Sea, while the other two missiles flew 250 kilometers and 350 kilometers, respectively.
In this context, the Korean military condemned the launch, describing it as a blatant provocation that seriously threatens peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The agency stated that under a firm joint defense stance between Seoul and Washington, the military closely monitors various North Korean activities and maintains a formidable capability and posture capable of responding to any provocation.
