UN calls on world leaders to deliver food to Gaza

New York - Saba:
The United Nations has called on world leaders to provide food for Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip, as the "total siege" imposed by the Zionist enemy enters its ninth week.

This came in a statement issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Monday, commenting on "Israel's" plan to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

The statement stressed that the plan "contradicts fundamental humanitarian principles."

It added that UN teams are ready to distribute essential supplies and services, such as food, water, healthcare, and nutrition in Gaza.

"We have a significant amount of supplies ready for distribution as soon as the siege is lifted. We call on world leaders to use their influence to make this happen. Now is the time to lift the blockade," the statement said.

The statement noted that the "Israeli" plan endangers the lives of civilians and humanitarian aid efforts while reinforcing forced displacement.

It also warned that attempting to direct civilians to conflict zones to receive food aid means that "large parts of Gaza will remain without food."

Since March 2, the enemy has closed the Strip's crossings, blocking the entry of food, relief, medical aid, and goods, leading to a severe deterioration in the humanitarian situation of Palestinians, as confirmed by governmental, human rights, and international reports.
