Beirut - Saba:
The Lebanese Hezbollah party has strongly condemned the cowardly Zionist attack that targeted the "Global Conscience" ship in international waters, which was on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to more than two million Palestinians subjected to a stifling and unjust blockade in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hezbollah said, "This attack on a peaceful civilian ship carrying relief aid constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws, norms, and humanitarian values.
The statement reaffirms once again that this rogue entity does not respect any international resolutions and knows nothing but terrorism and arrogance.
The party said that the enemy does not hesitate to use all internationally prohibited means to achieve its goals and satiate its thirst for blood and destruction."
The party considered that "this crime, like all other crimes and massacres in Gaza and elsewhere, would not have occurred without the blatant American support for this temporary entity, the shameful international complicity, and the shameful Arab silence regarding the war of extermination waged by the Israeli enemy against the Palestinian people."
The statement concluded, "While we call for the broadest international and Arab condemnation of this crime, which reveals the true nature of the Zionist enemy, we also call for the protection of the ship, its crew, and the activists on board, and for caution against the treachery of the Israeli enemy, which years ago did not hesitate to target Marmara and kill a number of its passengers."
After midnight, the Zionist enemy targeted the Freedom Flotilla to break the siege on Gaza, setting it on fire. The ship is currently anchored in international waters off the coast of Malta.
