Iran: Insistence on sanctions increases doubt about Washington's intentions

Tehran - Saba:

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the continued US sanctions imposed on it, stressing that this approach increases doubt about Washington's intentions and seriousness in the diplomatic process.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday that Tehran entered negotiations with Washington in good faith, following a letter sent by US President Donald Trump to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in which he expressed his readiness to choose the diplomatic path to resolve the crisis over Iran's nuclear program.

The statement added, "During three rounds of talks, Iranian negotiators, within a specific framework based on the fundamental principles of the Islamic Republic, in accordance with international law regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and the lifting of unjust sanctions, clarified the legitimate positions and demands of the Iranian people, and seriously sought to reach a fair, logical, and sustainable understanding."

The statement affirmed Iran's commitment to the diplomatic path and its readiness to continue negotiations, while categorically rejecting policies based on threats and pressure."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry "strongly condemned the continued illegal sanctions and pressure on its trade and economic partners," describing them as "further evidence of the Iranian people's right to deeply doubt the United States' intentions and seriousness regarding the diplomatic process."

The statement also noted that "the continuation of these illegal actions will not change its logical and legitimate positions based on international law," and that "repeating previous failed methods will only lead to a repetition of the same costly failures."
